Dr Lew Hunter (Dean Emeritus of UCLA screenwriting) founded a group of professional screenwriters from all around the world for conversation, education and amazing films!

Held May 1st at the beautiful Delta King, a genuine 1860’s riverboat and floating hotel located in historic Old Sacramento, The American Screenwriters Conference submerges writers into a wonderful day of cinema and writing.

WHO?

Join a star-studded panel of screenwriters headed by the GODFATHER of American screenwriting, Lew Hunter on May 1st as we learn about the craft of writing and see who will receive the Lew Hunter Screenwriting award for excellence for 2016. Dr. Hunter is Chairman Emeritus and Professor of Screenwriting at the UCLA screenwriting program. His former students include Allison Anders, Adrienne Parks, Alexander Payne, David Titcherand many others. Steven Spielberg calls Lew the BEST screenwriting teacher.

Hunter lives in Nebraska where he heads a summer screenwriting colony for aspiring screenwriters.  In 1998, nine of the ten top-grossing films were written by students of Lew’s.
